Getting
here
You
have the option of hiring a car, which will enable
you to travel around the local area and visit some
of the beautiful places, or catching the bus to
our nearest local town Pedrogao Grande, where we
can collect you. Please note that we have our local
village, and the lake within walking distance, as
well as many local walks, but if you would like
to visit some of the many nearby pria fluvials (river
beaches), you will need a car. (car
hire) There are also plenty of local
activities available. (see

From
both directions - Once you come onto the
IC8, drive east untl you come to
the Pedrógão Pequeno &
Oleiros (EN 350) turn off. (Please note
that you will pass two turns for Pedrogao Grande,
before you come to the Pedrogao Pequeno turn.) Once
you turn off onto the EN 350 road
to Oleiros, you will drive about 10-15mins until
you come to the left turn to Madeirã.
Turn here and follow the road into the beginning
of the village. Take the left turn signed for Sobral,
follow this road down a hill and take the
next left, white house on the corner, onto a much
smaller lane. Follow this lane around to the left,
onto a cobbled road, into a small hamlet. Continue
driving until you come to a sharp left turn. There
is a space to park here. Either gve us a call when
you arrive, or walk down the hill, through the olive
grove and small space in a fence, down onto our
property. Continue walking down past the adega,
small stone 'house' and you will come to our yurt.
We will drive our 4WD to your car to collect your
belongings and deliver them to your yurt.
Buses
You
can catch a coach from either Lisbon or Porto, click
here for the national bus service, (buses).
You can easily view the site in English, and get
an idea of bus times. It is easy to catch the airport
yellow bus approx €3 to the coach station,
or a taxi - approx €10. We have always found
the buses to be reliable and on time. Please let
us know in advance if you plan to travel here by
coach as we will need to arrange to collect you,
and just to make sure you are not travelling on
a public holiday, as the coaches are fewer on those
days.
Our
closest coach station is Pedrógão
Grande. You may have to change in Coimbra
depending on which bus service you take.
