Accomodation
A
Yurt provides the perfect space for 'glamping' or
comfortable camping. Yurts are a magical and peaceful
space to be in and sleep in, fun for children, and
romantic for couples. Our yurts at Portugal Yurt
Retreat are home made using wood from our own land.
They are constructed in the traditional Mongolian
style, otherwise known as a ger. (Ger is the Mongolian
word for home - see
more yurt info).
Our
rental yurt
is approx. 5m in diameter, on a wooden base, with
an outdoor covered kitchen/dining area and adjoining
toilet & bathroom. The yurt has it's own facilities,
making it completely private and self contained
for those who truly want to retreat and relax in
privacy.
The yurt has a queen size double bed, and a single
mattress/sofa. We can also provide an extra single
mattress should you need it and a large tent which
can be pitched close to the yurt, creating more
space for larger families or familes with older
children. We will provide bedding for all beds and
bath towels for everyone staying. (We recommend
you bring your own towels for swimming.)
Almost all of the furniture in the yurt has been
hand made using wood from our land.
Yurt
Kitchen - Adjoining the yurt is a covered
kitchen & dining area. The kitchen is equipped
with sink, 2 ring gas hob and small grill, a fridge,
and pots, pans, crockery and cooking utensils. Our
water comes from a bore hole 100m under ground and
is safe for drinking.
Yurt
Eco Bathroom - The bathroom has an eco-shower
with solar hot water, sink, and toilet facilities.
Our toilets are eco/composting toilets. We have
2 toilets, one for solids, sawdust and paper, and
a urinal/toilet. For more information on composting
toilets see eco- living.
Teas
and coffee are included in the rental of the yurt.
For
B&B rental please note that the local Portuguese
restaurants are limited on vegetarian options, however
fish is usually available. You can eat out very
reasonably (between 6-10 euros per person), but
you will need a car to do this. We can provide lunch
and evening meals on a day to day basis for an additional
cost. (see prices)
We can also sell you a basket of seasonal vegetables
from our garden (subject to availabilty).
We
are a 10 minute walk from our village where there
are two cafes and associated shops with a good selection
of food, fresh bread, cheese, local eggs, fruit,
veg and alcohol etc. There is also a post office
which is open week days 9 - 12.30am
We
can also offer you a number of relaxing treatments
with local practicioners, including Reiki, Aromatherapy
massage, facials, Swedish massage, Reflexology,
Indian Head Massage, and an energetic spinal realignment
technique. These treatments can be organised upon
your arrival.
Please notify us of any special dietary requirements
before arrival.
